Costs and Fees

Each individual request for genealogical assistance is different. Each family is different. Please select from our services below and pay online via Paypal (also accepts credit and debit card payments) or via cheque (in your currency) or bank transfer.

+ Birth, Marriage and Death Record look-up service

Request the information given on a specific birth, marriage or death record.
We will look-up a specific record of birth, marriage or death in civil registration based on the information you provide. The more information you can give the better chance we have to find it. Fill in as much information as you can in the form provided. Leave blank anything you do not know, or give as close as possible information. Please note that birth and death registration began in Ireland in 1864. Marriages began in 1845. Before these dates you will need to search church records for the appropriate information.

+ Copy of Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates

Request a certified copy of a specific birth, marriage or death certificate
We will look-up a specific record of birth, marriage or death in civil registration and post a certified copy to your postal address. This search will be based on the information you provide. The more information you can give the better chance we have to find it. Fill in as much information as you can in the form provided. Leave blank anything you do not know, or give as close as possible information. Please note that birth and death registration began in Ireland in 1864. Marriages began in 1845. Before these dates you will need to search church records for the appropriate information. Cost - £20.00 sterling

+ Short Search

This 3 hour research may be used to search a specific record or set of records.

You may need only the information from one specific record or set of records. This 3 hour search normally will allow us to look at, and provide the information from, the record you request.
Examples of this type of search may include:

  • a more general search in civil registration for a birth, marriage or death for which you do not know the year
  • church records within a specific parish and period of time
  • a search in newspapers for death notices giving burial locations and family names, or for incidents relating to your family
  • wills records for specific ancestors in a particular time or place
  • a graveyard search for a particular burial and headstone inscription
  • search of school records in an area to locate information from the registers
  • search of workhouse records
  • valuation records from 1830s to 1930s for location and nature of property

+ Extended Search

Our comprehensive research service will use all sources of available information to research your ancestry and/ or living relatives.

This extended research into your family will use all possible sources of information to locate your family in the records and trace their ancestry. If you want some of the time to be used to research living relatives we will do so. Copies of selected documents relating to your family such as birth records, property records, wills etc will be forwarded to you also.

Please fill in the form provided with details of the family that you know relating to their life in Ireland. The more information you can give the better. Try to provide as many names, dates and places as you know along with any other information relating to religious denomination, occupations etc

We will look at your information and reply as to whether we feel this research is feasible. Then we will make a proposal for research and the cost to carry this out.

+ One Day Assisted Research

A FamilyUlster genealogist will accompany and assist you in your research at PRONI or other research centre in Northern Ireland.

If you are planning a visit to Northern Ireland we can provide a genealogist to meet you at The Public Record Office in Belfast to accompany and assist you in your research. This is a very useful service to help you make the most of your time at PRONI and have an expert eye to assist your research. Our genealogist will be available from 9.30am – 4.30pm.
Note: extra days for research may be added at your request.

+ One Day Ancestral Tour

Take a private tour with a FamilyUlster genealogist to the towns, villages, homes, churches, graveyards etc relating to your specific family.

Whether we have carried out the research or you have, we can offer a genealogist to you for one day (about 7 hours) to take you on a private tour to the places most relevant to your ancestors. This may include homes, villages, graveyards, churches etc. If we have carried out research to locate a living relative, there may be an opportunity to meet them.
Note extra days for research or touring may be added at your request.

+ 3 day Ancestry and Tour Package

Tour Belfast City, Giant’s Causeway and the North Coast, and visit your ancestors’ specific sites.

Included in this package is:

  • Pick-up at airport, train station or ferry port
  • Accommodation for 3 nights
  • Two hour private tour of Belfast City with a local guide
  • One day visit to the North Coast by coach tour. This includes the Glens of Antrim, Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and much more
  • One day private tour with a FamilyUlster genealogist to the towns, villages, homes, churches, graveyards etc relating to your specific family
  • Meet with living relatives if this has been part of any previous research
  • Drop-off at airport, train station or ferry port
